Stuffed animals take over the HB Public Library
Thursday, August 27, 2015
Teddy Bears may have their picnic, but in Huntington Beach all play critters were invited to the Great Stuffed Animal Sleepover. For one night, the stuffed animals took over the Huntington Beach Central Library and played until the wee hours.
Children’s Department supervisor Barbara Richardson read to the animals while Friends of the Children’s Library members Lyn Scott, Irma Loper, Janelle Killingsworth, Katie Mahmood and Sheila Plotkin did their best to control the 27 overnight guests.
Check back next August for info on the 2016 Great Toy Sleepover!
NOTE: This one is for the adults, but a percentage of the day's proceeds go to our group that supports the HB Children's Library. Think of it as grown-up, guilt-free FUN!
Four Sons Brewery
First Anniversary Celebration
Saturday, September 5
The Four Sons Brewery will be celebrating the first anniversary of their popular microbrewery on Saturday, September 5 from 11 AM to 9 PM at their brewery on 18421 Gothard (near Ellis).
Stop by and try and their amazing selection of beers – including Land of Hopportunity (the IPA inspired by SoCal’s orange groves), The Coco (a toasted coconut and caramel-colored amber ale), Beach Pail (a single-hopped pale ale with a powerhouse aroma) and the legendary Nightmare on Gothard Street that’s infused with Belgian chocolate, cacao nibs and fresh roasted coffee.
Pair these outstanding craft beers with some tasty grub from local food trucks, and you’ll have a great day of beer, food and fun with friends – AND it’s for a good cause; Four Sons is donating a percentage of the day’s proceeds to the local nonprofit Friends of the Children’s Library (FOTCL). Hope to see you on Saturday, September 5!
